INSTALLATION INFORMATION FOR FTP PACKAGE NEW INSTALLATION: ----------------- 1. Create a directory for the component. If you have several StarTech Internet components, put them in the same directory. 2. Unzip the contents of the zip file to this directory. Move the .hlp and .kwf files to the \delphi\bin directory. 3. Start up Borland Delphi. 4. Select Options|Install Components. 5. Install the component, using the following .dcu files: ftp.dcu Ftp Component ftpurldg.dcu FtpUrlDialog Component if starsock.dcu version 1.3 is not installed, install: starsock.dcu Common socket code for all Internet components 6. Exit Delphi. (Do not save any changes to project, if asked). 7. Run the 'helpinst' program found in '.....\delphi\help' 8. Open File '......\delphi\bin\delphi.hdx' 9. Add the new keyword file (.kwf extension) found in the \delphi\bin directory 10. Select File|Save, then Exit 11. The component will be installed in the Internet tab and the help file should be active UPGRADE INSTALLATION: --------------------- 1. Make sure you remove any old copies of starsock.dcu (check \delphi\lib) you may having lying around, as well as old copies of the component. 2. Follow the instructions above 3. Open any applications which use one of the components. Display the form on which these components reside. You may get a dialog box with a red hand complaining of missing property values (such as Width, Top, etc..) Click on the 'Ignore All' button. Save the project. Your project will now be using the new components. COMMON PROBLEMS WITH HELP FILES: -------------------------------- After installing a certain number of help files in \delphi\bin, Delphi "forgets" where its help files are (\delphi\help). If you get a message 'Cannot open help file' when trying to access delphi help, copy the following files from \delphi\help to \delphi\bin: -delphi.hlp -cwg.hlp -winapi.hlp
